Good News

Hello family. Man I am forgetting how to writing in English haha.  Anyway, I hope you are all doing well, I had a really good week this week.

It looks like everyone's fasting and praying pulled through, because we had 2 baptisms this week and I didn´t even think they were going to get baptized until a few days before haha.  Their names are Juan de Dios (John of God) and Abril (April) haha.  It was really cool though because they both got baptized together and they are really funny and good converts.  Juan de Dios wanted Elder Taylor to baptize him before he left, so he did it this Saturday, and April had some doubts but we had a really good lesson and I could tell the spirit touched her.  They both got baptized and confirmed this week.

Sadly however, Elder Taylor my beloved companion got transferred to Antofagasta!  It was pretty hard, but I know he will do well over there and he will be a fantastic missionary.  I will be getting a new companion, but it looks like they still don´t know who yet.  Yep, I´m going to be training a new missionary!  Oh man I really hope I don´t mess this up haha.  Also Elder Thomas left, and Elder Ramones is now our district leader.  Also Elder Vilca is his new companion.

Anyway I love you all and miss you tons, take care and stay safe!

Love,
Elder Hirschi

1. How did transfers go?
A little sad, but also pretty well.  I had to say goodbye to Elder Taylor, but I will be training a new missionary.

2. Did you get a new Companion? If so, what is he like?
I will be leaving to Antofagasta tomorrow and coming back on Thursday with my hijito (Son).

3. How did the baptism go?
Thanks to everyone's prayers they went really well.  Sadly Julisa wasn´t baptized still, but I am really hoping this week is the one.

4. Have you played soccer lately or any sports?
We only played a little bit 2 Mondays ago, but then we had a water balloon fight. I will post a picture.  (Elder Ramones is the one with the gun on the bottom hahahaha)

Hola Familia

It looks like I don´t have very much time again. Man I need to figure out how to write faster haha.  Maybe if you guys wouldn´t write me so much I would have more time haha just kidding.  Really though thanks to all those that write me tons, it really means a lot and even if I can´t write back that much I hope you know I love you all.

Looks like Julisa who was going to get baptized this week fell through sadly , but that´s ok because this next week she still wants to do it .  So we should have a good week this next week.  We have been working really hard this last week. We even found 25 new people to teach!  That´s a crazy week for us.  I hope we can pass by all their houses in order to teach them well.

It´s still realllly hot down here, but I would have to say last year was hotter in Copiapo.  Also I am using more sun block so I hope that helps.

Love,
Elder Hirschi

1. What do you think transfers will be like for you coming up?
It looks like next week it´s very likely that Elder Taylor and I will be splitting up.  That´s ok though, because we had a blast, and I will always remember the cool experiences we have had together.  Plus it´s not 100% for sure, but I´ve never heard of a companionship that stayed together for more than 3 transfers.

2. Have you learned anything new in Spanish lately?
I have learned some new words and I learned how to speak in past subjunctive.

3.  Have you taken Elder Thomas up the big sand hill yet?
Yes we did it was pretty cool.

4. Have you been feeling well lately?
Yeah I get sick every once and a while, but I have had a lot more energy since I have been drinking more water and eating healthy.
5. Have you been running much with your new shoes? Have you liked them pretty well?
A: I have been running a bit, and they are really nice!  It feels so good to get new shoes, the last time I got new running shoes was like 2 years ago haha.

Today will be pretty short, sorry.  I love you guys I miss you tons.  I will pray for you everyday.  I hope you are all doing well and that you had a good holiday season. Now we just have to wait 10 more months for the next one haha.  My theme song for this year is "I´ll be home for Christmas" haha.

We are going to have a baptism this next week of a girl named Julisa, I would invite everyone to pray for her so that she can feel the need to be baptized this week.  Also someone named Abril (or April in English).  She lives with her boyfriend, but she wants to leave so that she can be baptized, I hope you can pray for her or even fast so that she might make that choice.

Love,
       Elder Hirschi

Answers:
1. When are the next transfers?
 in 2 weeks!

2. How did the interviews go with President?
Really well, I actually needed an interview, because I was being chueco (it´s like the missionaries that do bad things) haha.  Just kidding, but I did actually receive a lot of advice that was needed.

3.. What is your ward like? Do they have someone to play the organ or piano? Is there a primary with very many kids?
That´s like 6 questions in one mom gosh! haha just kidding.  No I have a pretty cool ward, they don´t have anyone to play the organ, and Elder Taylor likes to say we sound like a funeral home haha.  We do have lots of primary kids!

President Thomas S. Monson

Happy New Years! We made it to 2018 and it feels like I am getting really old haha.  I remember last year when I was in Chile and we had New Year.s It does not even seem that long ago.  Anyways I am doing really well this year, except I haven´t been doing all of my goals very well oops.  Oh well there´s always next year right?  Haha.  No I have been trying to be a better missionary this year, but sometimes things can be very hard here.

I heard a few days back that our beloved prophet Thomas S Monson passed away.  I was shocked when it happend, I can´t believe it still.  At least we can know that he is in a better place, and he is with his wife again.  I still would invite all of you to pray for his family and loved ones that they might feel peace in this dificult moment.

A 17 year old named Manuel was baptized this last Saturday and it was really cool.  He actually still hasn´t been confirmed because he has a problem and couldn´t go to church, but he said next week he will get there for sure.  He told all of us he wants to be a future missionary and that he loves the church.  He has a had rough life and it just feels so good to be able to help him feel the blessings and the joy of the gospel in his life.  For example his dad left when he was 7 and his mom passed away 2 years ago.  He is an under aged boy living by himself here in Chile. His only brother and sister live in Bolivia and he only gets to see them through Facebook.  He is actually passing through a problem right now and I want to invite you all to go to pray for him as well that next week he can be confirmed without problems, and that he will be a strong firm member in the church.

Love,
Elder Hirschi

1. What is the new Elder like in your apartment? What does he like to do?
Elder Thomas is from California.  I actually met him in Antofagasta when I was being sent to Mejillones.  He is really nice and a cool district leader, he is about to finish his mission this transfer.  But he is still working hard and is being a good example for us.

2. Did you meet anyone fun this week?
We met 3 dudes that were coming home from the beach.  I honestly thought they weren´t going to be that nice, but one of them named Luis was super cool and actually accepted a baptismal date.

3. Did you get any pictures from the baptism last week?
 Yep

4. Did Luis show you the New Year's videos I sent as a message for him to show you from us?
Yes I did, but it didn´t have any sound for some reason.  Luckily we deciphered what you were saying.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Sorry I don´t have very much time to write home, but I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  I know it already passed, but I am a little late writing home.

Anyways we had a lot of fun this week, and we even got to baptize the sister of John Pablo my first convert here in Iquique.  Anyways that´s all that happened. We are doing really well and we plan to have lots of success here.
